Lavender Aromatherapy

Traditionally used in a variety of ways to treat mood disorders, lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is used with aromatherapy to alleviate insomnia and agitation, and clinical research suggests that when added to bath water it can improve mood. Although lavender’s sedative effects have been corroborated by modern research, experts note that older studies suggest this is only at low dosages. At high doses it can have a stimulatory effect instead.72,77
